KEVIN CAHOON – RAFA ALUMN

Kevin Cahoon - After making his New York stage debut in The Who's Tommy, Kevin Cahoon has gone on to originate the roles of George in The Wedding Singer, The Childcatcher in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Ed the hyena in The Lion King, as well as roles in the recent revival of The Rocky Horror Show at Circle in the Square, all on Broadway. Cahoon left his role in The Lion King to standby for John Cameron Mitchell Off-Broadway in the title role of Hedwig in Hedwig and The Angry Inch at The Jane Street Theater, eventually taking over the role and opening companies of 'Hedwig' in Boston, The Edinburgh Festival in Scotland, and playing an extended 8 month run at The Victoria Theatre in San Francisco. He is featured in the New Line Cinema Documentary Whether You Like It Or Not: The True Story of Hedwig.


Off-Broadway credits include the role of Ellard opposite Matthew Broderick in the Roundabout Theatre Company's revival of 'The Foreigner', for which Cahoon received a Lucille Lortel Award nomination for Outstanding Featured Actor, and Phil D'Armano in Andrew Lippa's The Wild Party at The Manhattan Theatre Club. For New York's City Center Encore's! Series Kevin has been seen as Woof in Hair and Peter in Babes in Arms and recently created the role Buster in 'Minsky's' at The Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles. Other regional credits include The Berkshire Theatre Festival, NY Stage and Film, and Garland Wright's production of Babes In Arms at The Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis.


On television Kevin portrayed Ross Rothman on ABC's Six Degrees and Kermit Jones on AMC's The Royale. He has also guest starred on Fox's Canterbury's Law, ABC's Hope and Faith, NBC's Law and Order and Law and Order: Criminal Intent. On film he can be seen in Woody Allen's The Curse of the Jade Scorpion, Paul Reiser's The Thing About My Folks, Adrienne Shelley's Sudden Manhattan, and Michael Knowle's One Night. Kevin recently completed filming the Disney Pictures/ Robert Zemekis produced film Mars Needs Moms alongside Seth Green, Joan Cusack, and Tom Everett Scott.


With his New York based band, Kevin Cahoon and Ghetto Cowboy, Cahoon has played packed shows at many New York venues including CBGB's, Don Hill's, Ars Nova, Joe's Pub, The Fillmore at Irving Plaza, and has shared the bill with such luminaries as Tom Waits, Elvis Costello, and Justin Bond. Kevin is also featured in the documentary film 'Squeezebox'. Kevin Cahoon and Ghetto Cowboy's debut album 'Doll' received The Out Music Award for Outstanding Debut Recording, received a Citation of Merit from Billboard Magazines' World Songwriters Awards, and it's title song is the lead track for the upcoming Daisy3Pictures release 'Ready, OK! .
